Our History
Woodland Hills Medical Clinic & Urgent Care opened in 1964, as a newly built medical facility planned and constructed by Dr. Sidney Lubin M.D.
Dr. Lubin received his M.D. from University of Illinois Medical School in 1953. During his Residency at California Hospital Medical Center/ Santa Monica Hospital Regional Medical Center, he was called back into active service as Captain in the US Air Force. He was discharged in 1957 and soon afterward began his private family practice in Woodland Hills California, in a building just a block away from the empty lot he later discovered.
His dream had always been to build his own medical facility. Soon after acquiring the lot, he began drawing plans for the new medical facility to his own exact specifications, and closely supervised the construction of the building which was completed in 1964.
Since there was no advertising allowed at that time, Dr. Lubin’s successful medical practice (which included family care, minor surgery, pediatrics, injury care, and immunizations including travel immunizations) was built by personal ‘word of mouth” referrals, and included care to local business and schools, attributable to his medical expertise, his caring attitude toward each patient, and his 24-7 availability,
He was one of the founders of the hospital, now known as West Hills Regional Medical Center, and held membership in numerous prestigious Medical Academies, Societies, and Professional Associations.
After 44 years of full time medical practice Dr. Lubin decided to look for another physician to join him at the clinic. He chose Dr. Hamid Mirshojae, a board certified family physician with extensive experience in family and emergency medicine who began working with him in January 2001. They practiced together congenially until April 2001 when Dr. Lubin advised his patients that due to health issues and after much thought, he regretfully decided to retire from active medical practice. From that time on, Dr. Mirshojae took over the administration and acquisition of Woodland Hills Medical Clinic & Urgent Care. Dr. Lubin and Dr. Mirshojae have an enduring friendship that exists today..
